If it’s possible to have too many amazing events jam-packed into one day, that day is the Fourth of July. But that’s not a bad thing. Steps outside our Corporate Suites Network apartments are plenty of patriotic festivities marking Independence Day. Head to a Best Local spot or event in Chicago or the suburbs tonight to get your America on.

Head to downtown Des Plaines for the 12th Annual Independence Day Parade (Oakton and Center Streets) at 10am. The theme of this free suburban event is “Great Inventions That Changed America!” Check out the homes competing for the best patriotic decorations along the parade route, a 5-minute drive from River 595 Apartments in Des Plaines.

The massive fireworks display at Best Local Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave.) are a yearly tradition for locals and travelers alike. Take a Shoreline Sightseeing Cruise along Lake Michigan for $47.50 at 8:30pm, perfect timing for the 15-minute show tonight at 9:30pm. It’s an 11-minute ride on the 66 bus from Columbus Plaza in Streeterville.

Even city dwellers sneak away to the suburbs for this major event: Naperville Ribfest at Knoch Park (700 S. West St.). The fireworks begin tonight at 9:30pm, but the fest lasts through Sunday, July 7. More than 10 vendors will share their signature ribs with hungry locals, and carnival rides will keep the kids happy. Don’t forget about the daily live music! Just a 12-minute drive from Lincoln at the Parks and Iroquois Club in Naperville!
