The atmosphere of Best Local Table, Donkey and Stick (2718 W. Armitage) in Lincoln Park was inspired by the traditions of the Alps. The fire pit—actually a cast iron kettledrum— in the patio is a perfect place to gather for storytelling and a warm beverage, like hot chocolate, apple or pear cider, or one of their rare teas. Get a warm, romantic vibe at Best Local Redstone American Grill in Oak Brook (13 Lincoln Ct.). Here, there’s a fireplace in the lobby and fire pit near the restaurant’s entrance. The fireplace-laden patio at Best Local Countryside Saloon (2501 E. Ballard Rd.) in Des Plaines is open year-round. This is the favorite local venue to order a thin crust pizza and kick back by the fire to watch the big game. Fun fact: Countryside Saloon was established in 1933 as a speakeasy and gin mill. Just a 4-minute drive from River 595 in Des Plaines!
