October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month — surely you’ve noticed an overwhelming amount of pink products being sold around town. From popcorn to footballs, there are a lot of Best Local pink products to choose from. Usually, if you see a pink item this month, a portion of its proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.

Breast cancer hits very close to home; I have lost loved ones to this disease, and have seen others come out on top like a champ. Luckily in Chicago, there are always ways to support the awareness of breast cancer, donate for research funding, volunteer, or help women in the fight!

There is still time to register or volunteer for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk of Chicago on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Soldier Field. Of the funds donated, 72% is donated to the American Cancer Society for research, patient support, prevention and treatment.
