Sales Coordinator Erica Hale Guest Blogs on How to Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer in Chicago
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month — surely you’ve noticed an overwhelming amount of pink products being sold around town. From popcorn to footballs, there are a lot of Best Local pink products to choose from. Usually, if you see a pink item this month, a portion of its proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.
Breast cancer hits very close to home; I have lost loved ones to this disease, and have seen others come out on top like a champ. Luckily in Chicago, there are always ways to support the awareness of breast cancer, donate for research funding, volunteer, or help women in the fight!
There is still time to register or volunteer for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk of Chicago on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Soldier Field. Of the funds donated, 72% is donated to the American Cancer Society for research, patient support, prevention and treatment.
During the month of October, Best Local Garrett’s Popcorn Shops (various locations, including 27 W Jackson Boulevard) is donating 10% of all of its Signature Pink Tin sales to A Silver Lining Foundation.
Find the products above from Philosophy (She Colors My Day, available at Sephora, 108 N State St #134) and Target (Sonia Kashuk pink brush set, available at Target, 1 S State St) that will donate 100% of the proceeds to the battle against breast cancer. So remember throughout October—and every other month — buy pink with a purpose, educate yourself, and support the fight!
