Sales Coordinator Erica Hale Guest Blogs Her Take on Best Local Spot Au Cheval
As I struggle to walk down barely shoveled sidewalks and tackle mini snow mountains during Chicago winters, I can’t help but crave comfort food—that yummy, fattening deliciousness that breaks all the rules of my New Year’s diet. Like, mouthwatering hamburgers and creamy macaroni and cheese.
I can’t even mention burgers without thinking about the one I had at Au Cheval (800 W Randolph St.). I’m not even sure if I pronounce the French name of this Best Local restaurant correctly, but Au Cheval is where I had one of the best burgers in my life. This small West Loop dining spot has perfected everything you should expect from a burger.
When the waitress brought my burger, I thought she forgot to bring out the ketchup and mustard bottles. However, after I took my first bite, I discovered they weren’t necessary. I ordered a single burger with cheese, but the single burger actually has two patties. Its quality ground meat is seasoned well, juicy, and on a soft, toasted bun. It’s the typical ingredients you would expect, but how it all comes together is so spot-on. The pickles are even homemade.
It’s hard to describe, so I invite you to try it for yourself. Then you’ll see why Bon Appétit and Time Out Chicago rank Au Cheval’s cheeseburger as number one in Chicago. Check out the tasty selections at Best Local Au Cheval, just a 7-minute walk from 180 N Jefferson and an 8-minute walk from Presidential Towers!
