Kick off the fall art season by spending the weekend at EXPO Chicago! Hosting its fifth year at Navy Pier, EXPO features artwork from over 140 galleries around the world. EXPO includes special exhibitions, panel discussions, and new media works in film and video. EXPO Chicago runs Sept. 22-Sept. 25 and is only a 13 minute ride on the 124 bus from 73 East Lake!

Support local schools and students by visiting the School of the Art Institute’s Sullivan Galleries! Sullivan Galleries celebrates emerging artists and features projects led by faculty or student curators, using the exhibition process as a mode of research. Current exhibits being shown are faculty projects, “Micromodern Memories in Tokyo and Chicago”, “Helio Labs”, and “Painting in Time: Part Two”. Only a 10 minute walk from 215 West Apartments or a 9 minute walk from 73 East Lake.

Visit a gallery the whole family with love, the Art of Dr. Seuss Gallery. Come walk through the imaginative mind of Dr. Seuss and view rare work of the illustrator’s Art of Dr. Seuss collection. Their exhibits features large-scale bronze sculptures, a “Hats-Off to Dr. Seuss” collection, and retrospective exhibit of the writer’s 70 years of creativity. Some art is also for sale and only a 7 minute walk from The Bernardin or The Chicagoan.

You don’t have to be in the city to see great art! Water Street Studios is an art gallery that also features a school of art, maker-space, and individual artists studios. Upcoming events include a “Rural Studies” gallery along with monthly the studios’s monthly Waterline Writers club. Only a 13 minute drive from AMLI St. Charles!
