What better place to celebrate poetry than at the Poetry Foundation! The Poetry Foundation location includes featured exhibits, galleries and upcoming events all centered around poetry. The museum is also home to an extensive poetry library, where visitors are allowed to sit and peruse the various books. The museum’s current exhibit is Memory, an audio-visual installation featuring over 1,000 photographs accompanied by narration. Only a 7 minute walk from AMLI River North or Grand Plaza!

Attend Poetry Fest at the Harold Washington Library! The library will be hosting its 17th annual Poetry Fest on Saturday, April 30 and is open to the public. The event includes writing workshops, readings, open mics, and the 12th annual Hauki Fest Award Ceremony. Fun for all ages and only a 16 minute walk from 215 West Apartments.

Pick up your own copy of some poetry at After-Words Bookstore.  The two floor bookstore is home to over 70,000 volumes, including an extensive poetry selection. The space also holds book signings, reading and lectures. Only a 3 minute walk from Grand Plaza, 5 minute walk from AMLI River North or an 8 minute walk from 400 N. LaSalle.

Listen to spoken word at Kafein Coffee! The hip coffee shop holds an open mic every Monday night at 7 p.m. This open time features various performances ranging from poetry to stand up and musical performances. Grab a coffee and enjoy some performances! Only a 5 minute drive from AMLI Evanston.
